The short answer

Pick Hevy if most of your training is barbells, dumbbells and machines, you want the cheapest Pro plan and a big community of lifters. Pick Calitracker if most of your training is bodyweight: skills, holds, band-assisted work and weighted pull-ups and dips, and you want progressions built in.

Where Hevy is better

  • Price. Hevy Pro starts at $2.99 a month and $74.99 for life, less than Calitracker Premium.
  • Community and track record. Over 100,000 ratings on the US App Store, so you will find friends on it and plenty of reviews to judge it by.
  • Gym features. A large free library of programs and workouts built around weights, progress graphs, and Apple Watch logging without your phone.
  • If you lift weights most days and only do a few pull-ups and dips, Hevy is the better fit.

Where Calitracker is better

  • Skill progressions. Step-by-step ladders for the muscle-up, front lever, planche and handstand, with a target for each step. Hevy has none.
  • Band-assisted work. You log the band level on each set, so you can see when you moved from a thick band to a thin one. Hevy only has an assisted exercise type, without band levels.
  • Holds as training data. Hold times sit next to last session's for every set, the same way reps do.
  • Calisthenics exercise library. 700+ calisthenics, gym and mobility exercises sorted by difficulty and filterable by equipment and muscle group.
